Arms flailing,body rigid in terror,
first breath drawn in shock!
too bright!too cold! too noisy!
your alarmed cries ,cry “stop!”

I stretch to hold, embrace you,
close to my heart,to my breast,
rock you gently,stroke your hair,
until you are at rest.

and while you sleep,caress you,
watch you to admire,adore.
memories fade into oblivion,
what life was like before?

know each other well,I think?
and as my lips brush your cheek,
I make you a silent promise,
(this love is for keeps)
