Wow! My first day in high school!
This is totally cool
Gotta play it safe, be silent, can’t be a fool
Gotta fit in my freshmen year
Keep an open mind and an open ear
Need acceptance from my peer
My mom just died just before
It was hard to get along and just ignore
While my dad tried to be 2 parents and more
Discovering new friends along with my own
Friends around, not feeling alone
Also I got my first cell phone
First time at a school dance
As I walked through the entrance
The music had me already in a trance
The beats flowing through me
Watching my friends feeling so free
Just how it ought to be
Got to give respect to the DJ
Felt he read my mind by what he’d play
Wanted to stay there all day
Then it was over, what a shame
At least I had my share of some fame
Since my moves made MJ look lame
Had fun but now time to study
Maybe get help from a class buddy
If my mind is getting a lil’ muddy
Knowing my teachers was a great experience
Could always talk to them when things were tense
Always staying on the good side of the fence
Anyways, I tried my best
And got through the final test
Like I did with all the rest
Summer came and went but no need to fear
Since familiar sounds is what I hear
Now time for my sophomore year
More teachers and facts to know
Many theorems to prove and work to show
But certainly an easier flow
No longer a freshman pup
But still three years of hills to run up
So much more to fill my knowledge cup
Also I did not mention there was another dance
Very fun again but now with a little romance
Yeah, this experience was definitely enhanced
She was cute but it didn’t last long
Since girls are like a favorite song
Always another one to come along
Huge projection screens and awesome music
I thought I was going to go ballistic
It seemed like it ended way to quick
I couldn’t walk out that door
My feet were stuck to the dance floor
Like a magnetic field never witnessed before
This second summer was the most
Spent most of it on the east coast
Saw all of NYC but no need to boast
Summer moved fast a second time
Not ready for this- braindead and sublime
Yet again, there was that chime
High school was not over yet
But no fear, no fret
Two more hills to climb, feet were just wet
Junior year was like splashing in a pool
Getting very wet and still keeping it cool
But no worries of looking like a fool
My academics being okay to see
Until I took Advanced Chemistry
Oops, this wasn’t for me!
Oh My! Head to the sky
This is too hard, no matter how I try
But still got through by and by
Luckily, my teacher helped me get back my confidence
Pushed me to get over that high fence
With some discovery of common sense
Got me passed what seemed to be fate
Learned there was too much on my plate
This cleared my path to help me graduate
Yeah, that one class made me feel cruddy
But really got me to seriously take time to study
And chill out with spending time with a buddy
But I must mention I was part of the chess club team
My teacher, the lion, and I, the cub, or so it would seem
I challenged him often by winning to change the scheme
Again, another summer came
Climbed a few mountains with dad for fame
Senior year should be tame
It should move right along
But I think I was wrong
The path still seemed long
Anyway, I clench my fists real tight
Hoping to keep to the path that’s right
Still doing homework until late night
Well I did have fun at lunch
I played chess games a bunch
Done with the homework crunch
Yeah, lunch always did relax me
From all the stress from study
By playing chess with my buddy
I also remembered in the past
I wrote an entire play quite fast
That got me a grade that would last
Someone tried to pull me off task in class
I looked through them like glass
Making my grades were A, not just pass
More stress but what can I say
Last year of school, can’t just run away?
Couldn’t waste it all and go that way
Fleeting moment of contemplation
Had to focus on my path direction
Keeping sanity for my own protection
Academics seem to get better
Praises in each recommendation letter
Hoping for scholarships for this go-getter
I know hard work comes first, then fun
Now was the time to show everyone
That achievement had been and can be done
I enjoyed all the adventure
And Art was another pleasure
It will take me somewhere I am sure
I am going to miss high school this year
But I will always know my friends are near
Just a poem about my high school career
