We live in a world
full of false first impressions
When our primal concern
is our harmful confessions.
A wasteland of violence
fear and aggression,
Poverty, hunger
sadness, depression.
But look at the bright side
Smile at the sunshine,
Live in the moment
Rather than just dread the nighttime.
Think of the love
and the lives that we have
Recycle the good
And dispose of the bad
Yes there are things
we just don’t understand
But someday we may,
If it’s in God’s plan.
I try to be helpful
I do what I can
I’ll reach out a hand
For my fellow man
Nothing brings forth
a more genuine smile
Than being your best
every once in a while.
Don’t tell me I’m wrong,
Don’t try to deny it,
You can’t disagree
Til you truthfully try it
So show me your hand
And I’ll make a move slow
But I can’t promise you
That I’ll ever let go
Don’t try to convince us
“we can” or “we can’t”
We have it inside us
To “give it a chance’
Don’t worry about me
Don’t pout, sob or cry
I’ll prove to you one day
That I’ll be just fine
I constantly dream
that the whole earth is mine,
Your dreams can come true,
With some thought and some time.
So tell yourself “yes”
Don’t think about “no”,
The world is a stage
And this is your show
If you don’t see the beauty
It’s not hard to find
It lies all around you
Just open your eyes.
